3 Top Time Savers for Piano Teachers
These time savers may not work for everyone - but here goes!
1. Time blocking:
I learned this trick from Carly Walton of Teach Music Online. At first, I thought, "nah. This won't work." But truly, I gave it a try for a month, and I was hooked!
The idea is: divide your studio admin into four categories. Commit a block of at least two hours, one day a week, to these tasks. Be disciplined, and knock it out! My categories are: lesson planning, social media, making video lessons, and progress reports. I try - I am not 100% - to get all of these tasks done on Mondays.
2. I use a paper planner.
Don't get me wrong; there are some great digital tools. The problem for me: I tended to pile too many tasks into them. With a paper planner, there is only so much physical space. This makes me PRIORITIZE and DELEGATE when needed. I love the Spaces Planner by Rachael Werner. She is a creative, mompreneur, and the parent of one of my students. I like her planner because it gives me creative space - AND, I can give grace to myself when things don't go right. Here's her website:
3. Automation and Streamlining- my new fav.
With tools like My Music Staff, my Squarespace website, and Practice Space - I can automate and streamline my work flow!
