What It’s Like - going from Teacher to Composer/Publisher

It's much, much harder than I thought.

I didn't set out to be one of "those" people who create things.

I was happy to buy other people's stuff.

Then the pandemic hit. I was scrambling for solutions for my students. I reached out to Leila Viss, who encouraged me to try making Google Slides to teach theory. (BTW - you can still get my resources at Leila's store by following this link. The theory, scale challenges, and musical stories are there. Use the code KAY20 for 20% off!)

Soon - I was brimming with ideas!

Creativity begets more creativity. As the pandemic ended, and I was teaching online - I was determined to bring PHYSICAL solutions to young students. That's when I started writing Amazon books.

And in case you have ever wondered, learning Amazon is a STEEP learning curve. I'm really excited about the four books I have published there. If you would like to take a look - go to Amazon and type in Kay Lowry in the search bar. (The books are also available as studio-licensed digital downloads in my shop.)

But do you make alot of money?

The short answer is no. But the better answer is - I cover my expenses and I am helping people. That makes me happy!

I have more to share....

This year, in 2025 - I'll be bring you more CAMPS - more MUSIC, and more books to help your young students.

Look out for my second method book - "Ben and the Blue Piano!"

" Ben and the Blue Piano" brings out the creativity in ALL kids! Packed with lessons that teach kids how to really LISTEN - this book fills in the gaps and provides prompts for improvisation.

Along with each lesson, you will get a listening game and a song you can teach by rote or using the visuals provided.

I’m looking forward to serving you, as a teacher, and beginner students in 2025!
